Computational Science Summer School (CSSS2023) is hosted by Department of Mathematics King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Center of Excellence in Data Science for Health Study Walailak University and Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) Heidelberg University. The event will be organized as twin workshops which are
- - Workshop on Data Science from 7th - 10th March 2023
- - Summer School in Data Science and Modelling in Industries from 13th - 17th March 2023.
We kindly invite you to attend both of our twin workshops at KMUTT.
The aim of the workshop and summer school is to bring interesting and booming applicable topics in Data Science, Optimizations, Numerical Method for PDEs along with Financial and Actuarial Mathematics that have risen across Asian and European countries to graduated students, university lecturers or people in public sectors who are keen on studying applied mathematics. The workshop and summer school kindly open for undergraduate students who love mathematics as well.
Data Science Workshop
This workshop provides some basic preparation for the following week, focusing on the practical side of optimization. The participants will learn how to translate real-world problem descriptions into a formal mathematical one. Some of these problems are transport problems, assignment problems, and shortest path problems. Moreover, they will implement this mathematical description to apply freely available solvers. All these techniques and approaches will be practiced in groups by collaborating on small projects. Finally, the groups will present their projects, strategies, and solutions.
Due to the electrical socket availability, the number of participants to join the workshop is limited to 40. Participant should have own laptop to maximize productivity of joining the workshop.
The software requirements are:
- - Python 3
- - scipy and matplotlib
- - Jupyter Notebook
Summer School in Data Science and Modelling in Industries
- 1. Data Science/ Big Data/ Machine Learning
- 2. Optimization/ Optimal Design & Control/ Parameter Estimation
- 3. Numerical Methods for PDEs
- 4. Finance/ Actuary/ Commodities
